Spool in the Word & Heart of a Kite...

When I think of the cool breeze that opens the door for Fall to enter into the Summer skies, my mind reflects back into childhood with seeing the kites in the sky and no kid in site. The strings would stretch for what seemed like miles, thus, triggering the mind to go on a big discovery to find the source. It would be such an achievement to discover the neighborhood kid that held the spool attached the the particular kite at close comfort... these were the great moments of being a kid...

Now that I am thinking back on those days.... other than admiring it for the beauty it brings to mind, I also think of how willing we were to allow the Kite to float so far away from it's source that sometimes it was a struggle to bring it back in. Why not establish that control, especially when it's given? The control of the spool is right in your hand... why did the kite have to get caught in the tree or nose dive into the ground? Why not keep it a safe distance from the spool so that it could just be reeled back in? Why not?...

Mark 7:6 These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me...

The person that holds the spool is a representation of us in the flesh. Then the spool, in this instance, becomes the Word of God, we keep it close. We know it's value, for if we lose it then we lose the thing that is most valuable to us. The string that attaches the spool to the kite is Jesus himself... this string becomes our salvation! Now... what does the Word of God and the String of Jesus Christ have at its end... think, think, think... I bet you all probably thought that it was the Holy Spirit. That would be good but we are not speaking about the Holy Trinity here... we are talking about this scripture that I referenced above. The kite represents our heart. Our hearts are at the end of the string. For we know God, we know the word... we claim to know Jesus but let's dig into this or as someone I know "loves" to say..."DISSECT" this a bit...

Some people start learning the Word of God from a very young age, some a bit older.. but the knowledge obtained from it usually stays with us or can be easily referenced in the Scripture that we love to keep handy. Hence, the spool is the Word. Jesus is the string holding all things together. He came, he lived, he suffered, he gave his life for us and took away all of our sins. Therefore, giving us salvation if only we claim it's truth and believe it.

For the sake of this blog... we will suggest that Jesus will only stretch as far as the string lying on the spool of the kite.... In the flesh, it is important to maintain the spool so that we can remain in the Spirit of Christ. We need the Word of God to grow spiritually and even to truly understand our Christ, Our Savior. The spool remains in our hands controlling how far we allow the string to give whilst the kite is in flight. The further the kite...or our hearts... fly onward into the sky we risk losing our salvation by allowing too much of the world to come in between the spool and the kite. Jesus Christ is being stretched to capacity in His never-ending efforts to keep us attached to the Word of God. The kite has floated meters into the distance bypassing trees, buildings, birds and even other kites that might interrupt it's flight in the sky. This is the world. The knowledge of the Word is still in the spool and we are still holding it. But our heart is floating further and further away from it... Holding on to what many people believe is everlasting salvation. Now see...the further we get from living in the Word does not decrease the knowledge that we have received from the Spool of Life but it hinders us from living in it, thus, our hearts become detached from it. This puts us in jeopardy of losing our connection to God.

It would be a gentle reminder of our lack of control if the kite is not taken by the wind and it takes a nose dive into the ground... CRASH!!! The string is still in tact, the kite probably has some minor damages and the spool is still maintained by hand. This is when we fall short...  No worries, this is where God's good grace comes in. We are so thankful for his forgiveness

Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard

Jesus is the string always seeking to save us from ourselves and our situations that we have become lost to. His death has already overcome all sin...

1 Corinthians 15:55-56 "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Now if the kite lands in a tree, the string will not break from it but it will become tangled in the branches and take some time to be untangled. This may be the overcoming of a situation that you have been delivered from but you are still trying to recover from the damages it has left behind. This is where you will need to call on God to give your flesh the physical strength and the patience to unravel those pains, mourn those loses, and be strengthened spiritually once again. As you remove the string or your temporary lapse in faith from the delicate branches of the tree you will ultimately release your heart back to God! And don't worry, the tree will damage the kite and the ground from the previous scenario will damage the kite... but God accepts you back just the way you are!!!!

There are sad instances where the string breaks away and the kite becomes lost... This means it has broken away from it's salvation and the Word of God. This occurs when the kite gets taken off by the wind and the string breaks away from it's security... thus, leaving the Word of God and it's salvation behind. This kite is now totally lost to the world...

Romans 1:28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

God bless this kite.... if you are this kite in this broken state, know that there is LIGHT!!!!! As you float endlessly along the wind you will see many things, you will experience many things, you will be mishandled, abused, taken advantage of and deceived. It seems to be no way out... from drug abuse, from poverty, from displacement, and broken confidence... from sexual immorality and promiscuity, from those things that you will realize you have become accepting of... God still has his eyes on you for as long as he can stand the sight of the sin surrounding you!!! He is also waiting for you to call out to Him... He will calm this storm in your life, and all you need to do is look for that small flicker of light.... just ask him to show you the way... beg him to show you the way... trust me, He is waiting for you to ask. Then once you ask... you will start to see the string.... the spool... you will be reattached to your place of belonging. And from there, it will be a beautiful new beginning for a ruby becomes more valuable and even more beautiful the more it weathers the fires of life.

As we have discovered our hearts in the many situations that the kite has faced through its struggles to stay connected to the Word, it ability to become one with the dirt of the earth, it's ability to become lost in the world and it's ability to sustain damage... what has to always be remembered is that no matter the circumstances, God is ready to take you back.... No matter how far you have gone or wandered... God is ready to show you better, No matter how long you have neglected him... you still have time to make it right.

Mark 7:6 These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me...

As we fly our kites in the future, let us keep the spool (Word) close, the string (Jesus-Salvation) in tact, and the kite (our heart) close to God. God Bless you All!!! Love you dearly
