Prayer & Meditation
I truly thank God for this day, for although I shed a lot of tears, those tears only reminded me of how much I depend on God. I am so grateful for the traveling mercies that He has granted my dear friend and all of the passengers that have flown along side him throughout the duration of His flight. For it was by His grace alone that I was able to hear from him at all today. I am so thankful for His life and His presence in my life. I pray that God grants Him the desires of His heart, I pray that all of His days are filled with blessings and love, and I also pray that we will be united at some point again. As I lie down to sleep I think off all the things that God has been doing in my life. Since I have last posted to Prayers & Meditation, I still am thankful for my two wonderful children that mean the world to me and always remind me that I have to keep pushing forward in order to set the standard for them. In the book of Proverbs 22:6, it states that we must train our children in the way of the Word, so that when he/she grows older they will not depart from it. I am still employed with a job that I love to do, for over a year I struggled with finding a job and also making ends meet. There were nights that I did not know how I would feed my children the next day! I was waiting on government assistance to come through and standing in line at the start of every food drive. I thank God for his hand in these matters! I am also so thankful for the wait that he had me endure because it taught me patience, it taught me to have faith that he would provide, it taught me to depend on him for those provisions and in the end of it all....He has blessed me with a wonderful job that only adds to my children's lives and welfare and doesn't take anything away. I was always willing to be a provider for them but God had me wait until he could hand-deliver me the gift he had in store for me... I will blog someday on how I did not even apply for this job! 1 Thessalonians 3:9 says that those unwilling to work will not get to eat. I thank God for his steadfast faith in my abilities to want to provide. I am so thankful for the way that God is moving in my family. It took to me talk to my dear friend to determine that my ministry lies in bringing my family to Christ. For a while, my ministry in the Lord focused on my children and directing them towards the path of righteousness, however, I have been given the added calling of bringing my family to Christ! Yes, I want to see them in Heaven! So I have been faithfully trying to distribute God's word to them as he has lays it on my heart! For I will be like that of Abraham begging for the life of my family! What if I can save 10 Lord, will you then spare my family. Genesis 18:32 Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?" He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it." Amen... I just pray that the Lord gives me the extra nudge when the Spirit is leading me in the direction to ACT when necessary and as he needs to be able to properly minister His Word. God I am depending on you. For a lot of my followers and readers on this blog it has already been acknowledged that I have gone through a divorce. I have only spoken of it twice, once in The Divorce and another time as a slight reference. I would considered my ex-husband my enemy that I only kept close to ensure the safety and communication of my children. However, this same friend...who I think may soon be promoted to my spiritual mentor.. that has been sharing the practicalities of the Word with me also encouraged me to bring my ex-husband even closer... but more so as a brother because the way I was treating him was not in line with the Word of God. See the Bible states in the book of Psalm 110:1 A psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet." It does not tell me that I get to choose my enemies or that I have the ability to make them my footstool. It says that God will be the one who determines this and no matter what we should follow the actual guidance that the Lord has equally distributed in saying "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" in Matthew 5:44. I took this as God speaking to me by encouraging me to change the way I have been doing things and encouraging me to act once again with Love. Is the concept being grasped here that as I have become saved, groomed, and growing in Christ, my true desire is to save more people!!!!! Glory to God. So I pray that as you draw closer to God, as you continue to venture through His Word, as you call upon His name in Praise, as you seek His guidance in all of your days that you keep others in mind. I pray that God places it on your heart to desire to want to win souls, I pray that he gives you the urge to call upon a neighbor or a family member that you have not reached out to in quite some time. I pray that you will be filled with the Spirit and I also pray that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior by simply reciting this aloud as you prepare to exit this blog.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
What is the only thing that the world cannot offer you? The one thing that you cannot get from a anywhere no matter how hard you try to find it. When you question your heart by simply inquiring "what is keeping you worried, why are you still aching, what will make you satisfied?" Are there things that you buy that makes you feel a little more relaxed in your stressful times, are there people that you "vent" to over the phone or in person to prevent a meltdown or complete stir of emotions, do you take comfort in you children because it seems that the experience of the world hasn't tainted the purity of their views? This is seeking things of the world to leave you comfort. People who do not know God and haven't been introduced to His son may find that these are reasonable solutions to their problems and the best direction to go. In actuality, it could be worse. People could seek comfort in the arms of a man or woman they barely know, or seek comfort in liquid spirits or drugs, some seek comfort through taking themselves through abusive situations to convince themselves that it could always be worse. These are all means that the world can provide you comfort, for better or for worse. However, I am here to say that the only thing the world cannot offer you is peace... You need to know God, you need to be saved through accepting his son into your life and while saved you need to seek him in comforting and providing for your needs. And this... is what He says he will leave you with...
John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.
The only way your heart will stop aching, stop worrying, and be fulfilled is through Jesus. Listen to Him, follow Him, consider Him in all things and he will leave you with this gift that only he can give you. Jesus see's your struggle in trying to obtain peace from the world, he knows that the world cannot give it to you, so much so, that he stated plainly himself - "And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give". But he will not intervene with your free will. However, he does love you enough to give you those gentle reminders that He is waiting and in Him your heart and mind will find peace...
Psalm 119:165 Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.
God will not only comfort you in your hard times but he will always provide you instruction towards the things that are hurting you, worrying you, and keeping you away from peace. Even if it just seems that he doesn't have you doing a thing, that's okay - He's working. You will have peace in his instructions and if you see that you may stumble it's okay to look to Him for assurance by knowing that he is with you still and that He is still the one guiding you. In this process, love the instructions he places before you, it's one less decision you have to make for yourself right. The Lord is all too happy to carry your burdens for you.
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Psalm 4:8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
This is one of my favorite versus as a woman. I recite it often, especially in the night when it is hard to turn off my mind, it is hard not to stew in different areas of my life, and it is hard not to focus on those trials and sorrows of the past to the point that if keeps me from rest. With God's instruction of maintaining the peace that only He can give us I am able to turn my mind off and fall into a peaceful slumber, I know that the Lord, alone, will keep me safe. I know that the sole reason for that peace was only because of the Lord.
Isaiah 9:6-7 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end.
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
today I have become your father.
8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron[b];
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.[a]
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
Appointing Elders Who Love What Is Good
5 The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint[a] elders in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe[b] and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[c] 13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
Doing Good for the Sake of the Gospel
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.
The Enticement of Sinners
10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. 11 If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason; 12 like Sheol let us swallow them alive, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; 13 we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder; 14 throw in your lot among us; we will all have one purse”— 15 my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths, 16 for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood. 17 For in vain is a net spread in the sight of any bird, 18 but these men lie in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives. 19 Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain; it takes away the life of its possessors.
The Call of Wisdom
21 at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:
22 “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? 23 If you turn at my reproof,[a] behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.
24 Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, 25 because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, 27 when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof,
31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.
32 For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; 33 but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
